Huge turn out as Sunrise Radio founder, Avtar Lit laid to rest

The founder of Sunrise Radio Avtar Lit has been laid to rest after a huge turnout at his funeral on Wednesday (12th July).

Avtar passed away on 27th June, aged 73. A special service was held at Mortlake Crematorium, which featured touching eulogies by Tony Lit, Serena Lit and Robbie Lit. Avtar’s wife, Anita Lit also shared her memories with him. The funeral was followed by lunch at a hotel on Bath Road.

At the time of Avtar’s passing, Sunrise Radio released a statement, which read, “On behalf of the Lit family, it is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of the radio and broadcasting pioneer Avtar Singh Lit.

“Avtar entered broadcasting to give the British Asian community a voice, which he indisputably achieved and far more. We are incredibly proud of his legacy which has given much joy and opportunity to so many.”
