Capital Xtra launches its first South Asian playlist on Global Player

Global, the parent company of popular youth radio brand, Capital has launched its first ever playlist targeting South Asians.

The Capital Xtra South Asian Selection is fronted by Yasser. It features a continuous playlist of popular artists such as Diljit Dosanjh, Naughty Boy, Sidhu Moose Wala, AP Dhillon and Steel Banglez. Its music output put its in direct competition with the BBC Asian Network, which focuses on a younger South Asian demographic.

Capital Xtra is an Urban station, which includes Hip Hop, Grime and RnB music genres. The South Asian Selection is the first attempt by a national non-Asian commercial radio station. Currently, the Capital Xtra South Asian Selection is available in a digital format only on the Global Player and Alexa.

The launch of the playlist coincides with South Asian Heritage Month.
