Aishwarya Sharma talks to BizAsia about being branded “Current Queen” in ‘KKK 13’
After her exit from Star Plus’ ‘Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin’, Aishwarya Sharma has been quick to jump into the dare-devil, high-octane series ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’. The popular actor spoke about her journey on the show and being branded “Current Queen”. She spoke about spending more time with her husband, Neil Bhatt before taking on any new assignments.
Below are excerpts he gave to Raj Baddhan in an exclusive interview on Lyca Radio (London) and BizAsiaLive.com.
Aishwarya, when we see you, we see the beautiful side to you, but now we’re seeing the daring side to you because to see you doing ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’ is a completely different avatar. I wasn’t expecting it. So that’s why I’m taking it back. It’s amazing. But how does it make you feel?
I feel really good because I was not expecting this from myself that I can do it, but I did it anyway. And, yeah, I took this opportunity and I was like… I was not loving every moment of it, but I enjoyed it till the end. So I’m really glad that I signed the show and I did it. And I’m so proud of myself right now.
I’m sure fans are super excited because obviously you’re not in ‘Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin’ anymore, but to see the continuation of Aishwarya on our Indian television screens is something I’m sure a lot of fans are waiting for. How has that shift been from leaving ‘Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin’ and now jumping into a reality TV show? It’s a completely different feeling, isn’t it?
Yeah, actually, it happened eventually. I was not planning for it. While I was doing the show, I put down my notice three months before and then I got this opportunity and then I was like, “No, I don’t want to do it at first.” And then somebody convinced me that you should do it. It’s a good opportunity. So take it. When I left (Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin), they approached me again and then I thought about it a lot. Then I thought, “yeah, let’s give it a shot.” Then I did it and I felt really good. I overcame all my fear. So I’m happy right now, honestly.
You mentioned that someone convinced you. Was it Neil, by any chance? That convinced you?
No, not Neil, my friends and also my manager. So he was like, “You should do it. It’s a big opportunity for you. And it’s the biggest show of television, biggest reality show of Indian television. So you should do it. You should try it at least.” So many people did it before. So I was like, “Yeah, let’s do it.”
Aishwarya, tell us about your fears – what was it about ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ that you were skeptical about? Was it the stunts? Was it just to be part of the show, the commitment, being away from family? What was it?
Oh, my fear was,I think, no, it was not being away from part of my family. No, no, no, no. The family is not the reason. But my fear was to like, I’m so scared of heights. I was not anymore. I was scared of what? I was scared of every single thing. I was scared of creepy crawlies, reptiles and never touched anything before. And while doing it, I got to know one of my fears and it’s crocodile.
Oh, yeah. And I was like, “Oh, no, I can’t do it.” I was so, so, so confident, “No, no, no, I’ll do it. I have to do it.” And then when I went for the stunts, then I got like…I was like, “I do it, I’m free right now. Please take me away.” And but still now I’m okay with it. So I’m happy that I did it.
Does that does that mean next time you’re in the in the zoo or some wildlife that you can now befriend a crocodile a lot more easier?
Yeah, if their mouth is like… I cannot lift them up with mouth open. Yes. So there’s so much of safety precautions. So yeah, I will do it again.
The family is not the reason. But my fear was to like, I’m so scared of heights. I was not anymore.
You mentioned heights as well. I mean, heights is something that I fear about as well. What about now? Are you a little bit better with heights?
Yeah, I am. Yes. I’m okay with everything now. They call me now Current Queen, because I did lots of current stunts, and I have a good threshold. So I did it. All my co-actors, co-contestants, they call me Current Queen now.

Aishwarya, so what’s next for you? Because obviously, you’ve been part of the top shows on Indian television. And there’s no doubting that. Where does Aishwarya go from here?
Right now, I’m taking a short break because I want to roam around with my husband. I was waiting for a moment since a long time. Now we got this opportunity. So I want to like go for holidays and finally my honeymoon. So it started now.
Dino did say to me when I obviously met you guys that he was proud of you. Obviously, you didn’t guys have a proper honeymoon as such. So is that now time for you to make up for any lost time that you’ve not been able to spend together?
Yeah. So we didn’t make any plans for now. We are trying and we are making plans. So yes, we want to spend time with each other.
Is London on your plans by any chance?
London is not in our list right now, but yes, we want to go. I honestly don’t know where are we going, but we are taking short trips for now. So yeah.
Aishwarya, I know we don’t talk too much about ‘Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin’, but just to touch upon it, what’s your take on obviously the recent changes that have happened?
I have no idea about that because I was there in Cape Town and I was so busy. I was so busy with ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’, so I don’t know what was going on here. I was not even asking Neil hat’s happening in the show. I was more into my thing because I needed to focus like in my stunts and also… yeah, I didn’t ask anything anyone about the show.
‘Bigg Boss 17’ is around the corner. We all know that ‘Bigg Boss’ is going to be another popular show. Tell me, would you be interested in ‘Bigg Boss 17’ when it arrives? There’s been a lot of rumours with your name in it.
Oh my God. I know my name is everywhere, but I don’t know. I’m not sure. I didn’t get any call for that. We are just assuming and then they put my name there, so I don’t know what’s happening.
Now they’re calling you the Current Queen. I’m sure the Current Queen could easily take over ‘Bigg Boss’, right? So you never know.
I don’t know. I’m the queen of my own kingdom, but not the ‘Bigg Boss’.
Have you got a final message for all your fans that are listening right now in London?
Yeah, I just want to say that thank you so much for watching me on Ghum. And also, watch me in ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’. I did really well. I overcame all my fears and you’ll see a different personality of Aishwarya. So yeah, thank you so much for loving me and supporting me. Thanks a lot.
